Battlefield of the Mind, Chapter 11 Discussion

Hi Ladies! Here we go! Chapter 11: A Doubtful and Unbelieving Mind. I think we have all been there. Let's see what we can learn and share with each other.

May you know you are loved and blessed!

WOW, WOW, WOW! I love this chapter! According to Romans 1:17...the way the righteousness of God is revealed is to live from faith to faith (trust to trust)! To trust what He is saying in day to day life. The Rhema (living word that is revealed or spoken to our hearts) that lines up with the Logos (written) word of God. No options...trust and obey there's no other way! Rest in Him, in His Word!

That was quite an eye opener when God revealed to that man to see into the spirit world as he spoke/confessed the promises of God! We have to be sooo careful of what is coming out of our mouth. What an encouragement!

I never really looked at unbelief as being disobedience, at least not in the way it was presented in the book. Yikes!

Thank you, Lord, Joyce and ladies for all the ways we can get to know, understand and enjoy our walk with the Lord...from faith to faith...glory to glory! Blessings!

I hope somebody here, can help me to understand something...
Didn't Abraham have a child with his wife's maidservant? Wasn't that a wee bit of doubt on his (and his wifes') mind? I think we all have doubts, but that's just the nature of man. It is a way to help us stay deep in the word, to help find the truth. We can discern more and want to learn more by having SOME doubt. Yes, I agree that doubt (in some forms) is from satan, but there could be a certain doubt that is beneficial to us, (to help us grow in Christ).
What do you think?

In response to Roxanne, I would call what Sarah suggested Abraham do to get the promised child, reasoning. But the result is the same as doubt - sin. If doubt drives us to the Word to find out truth, then it is a good thing. But if doubt leads us to reasoning and regressing in our walk with Christ, not so good. One thing I know is that doubt is one of satan's tactics so we have to fight it.

I liked the statement, "Doubt comes in the form of thoughts that are in opposition to the Word of God." Also, "If we know the Word, then we can recognize when the devil is lying to us." The contrast between Sabbath rest in the old covenant and the new covenant was enlightening to me. Under the old covenant, Sabbath rest was observed once a week. Under the new covenant, rest is a spiritual place, where we can trust God and enjoy freedom from anxiety, fear, and worry all the time. This is not natural for me so I have to continually practice. I agree, Grandma. I think Sarah was reasoning. She was thinking that God would give Abraham a son but maybe not through her, maybe through her maidservant. I reason a lot. I seem to always second guess everything. I question if it is God or the Devil or just me. We have to keep praying and believing and reading the word to understand God's voice. That still small voice.

I read something the other day that was interesting.(a little off subject) It said that chasing happiness is like chasing a butterfly. The more you run after it the farther it gets away. But if you would just sit still then maybe it will land on your shoulder. I totally believe in having goals and chasing dreams ect... HOWEVER, I think it is so important to be still and look around sometimes. See how blessed you are...right now. Be still and listen. Receive the joy and happiness right now.

It is so easy to be too busy to see the blessings given to us everyday. We need to make the time to be still.
