One of the hardest things for me concerning jealousy was knowing about an unbeliever appearing to be blessed with good looks, luxuries and peaceful circumstances. Then, comparing their lives with what I thought was less than that in my life, jealousy popped out. I finally realized that I did not believe God loved me and I wasn't content with the destiny He had planned for me. So, once again, I went to His Word for the truth. I found many passages that stated His love and His good plans He has for each one.
Joyce pointed out that jealousy, envy and comparison are common traits of the insecure. If I want to live life by the values of the Kingdom of God, then I have to realize that those values are usually opposite of the world's ways. For instance, in God's Kingdom, in order to be considered the greatest, I must be a servant and not seek high and visible places of importance.
I'm so thankful for all the ways God brings His truth to me; books like this one, Bible teachers, personal Bible study and prayer, sharing with friends and circumstances. God is so good!!!!
This is a tough one! It's easy to feel like we aren't being rewarded as much as we should. It's easy to assume someone is else receiving too much reward. We have to remember that even if nobody notices it on Earth, we are building treasures in Heaven.
