This blog is for women of Faith. This isn't for a specific religious group. Regardless of your race, size, background or religious preference we are all here to grow in our personal relationship with Christ and to meet some friends along the way. We will be reading books to help us on our journey. Welcome!

I first became aware of this attitude (my behaviour may be wrong but it's not my fault) when my husband and I hit the 20 year mark in our marriage. We decided to work on our marriage and all the stuff we had "stuffed" for 20 years came to the surface. We found we had been blaming each other for our unhappiness and wishing each other would change. I just knew that if he would change I would stop nagging and crying. And he just knew that if I would stop crying and nagging, he would be happy. We finally came to the conclusion, after much pain and suffering, that we needed to release each other from our expectations. Life has been so good since then.
I agree with Joyce that we have to face the truth about ourselves to receive God's forgiveness and help. The Holy Spirit helps us face the truth about ourselves and the truth is what sets us free.
My husband and I have battled through the difficult places by facing the truth and being honest with each other and now have reached the milestone of 50 years together, happier than when we first started our lives together.
Oh yes I can relate to this. Just the other day I was so impatient and angry. I kept making excuses for my bad attitude because everyone else wasn't listening to me or doing things wrong or taking too long etc... I had to take a break and go look in the mirror and tell myself to stop making excuses. I choose my attitude not anyone else. So I took a deep breath and I chose to be more patient and to use kind words and a gentle tone of voice. Man it was hard! But it helped me calm down and everyone else started to relax too.
