Battlefield of the Mind, Chapter 19 Discussion

Hi Ladies!

Let's talk about Wilderness Mentality #4, "I can't help it; I'm just addicted to grumbling, faultfinding and complaining." I've heard these before along with "I've just always been this way" or "Well it runs in my family". All excuses to maintain a negative attitude. I'm curious to see what Joyce has to say about it.

Be blessed!

Grumbling and complaining in our circumstances has serious consequences, as Joyce pointed out. How fortunate we are to have the record of God's dealings with mankind in the Old Testament. Joseph is the good example of how to behave during trials, and his were extreme and long lasting. The children of Israel were a bad example as they were going through the wilderness. They complained about almost everything and had to wander around in the desert 40 years. We are transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:1,2). Giving thanks in all circumstances reveals a renewed mind. What a challenge!!!

This is a tough one. It's hard to keep a "joyful" attitude in times of sorrow or strife. I have found that I will get through this day whether I have a good attitude or not. So I may as well enjoy the day with a positive and grateful attitude. It is a choice. Sometimes you have to just fake it.
